The EXPLORER-130P features a premium-quality Parabolic Primary Mirror, normally found in larger more expensive telescopes, to eliminate spherical aberrations, producing even sharper, higher-contrast images which are full of detail. A parabolic, or more accurately a paraboloidal, mirror, is ground to a shape which brings all incoming light rays to a perfect focus, on axis. In addition this telescope features 0.5mm Ultra-Thin secondary mirror supports, to reduce diffraction spikes and light loss. Magnifications (with optics supplied): x36, x72, x90, x180. Highest Practical Power (Potential): x260. Supplied with a high-quality equatorial mount, enabling you to track easily objects in the night sky.
|The quality of the star images cannot be faulted, and a higher magnification of Mars showed surface detail well Sir Patrick Moore CBE FR |
|I was most impressed by the views revealed by the ‘scope during tests…Despite a phase of nearly 96 percent, the waxing gibbous Moon revealed a seemingly inexhaustible amount of fine detail ... Highly recommended! Astronomy Now Magazine |
- Ideal Telescope for the Serious Beginner
- Reflecting Telescope, with 130mm diameter mirror
- Perfect for discovering the Night Sky (and more earthly subjects!)
- Parabolic Primary Mirror
- Complete Kit - Everything included
This is the same telescope as our basic Explorer 130 model, except it is fitted with a higher quality Parabolic Mirror
What we particularly like about the Explorer 130P telescope is that it achieves a very good trade-off between quality and price - the mirror is very large for a telescope in this price range, which results in highly-detailed images and wide ranges of view. The Explorer 130 enables amateur astronomists to discover a wealth of hidden secrets in the night sky, without costing the Earth! And, we have to admit, the remarkable quality of the images makes this telescope stand out from other telescopes in this price range.

Sky Watcher is an American company and a leading manufacturer of high-quality telescopes and other optical products. We are able to supply not just the telescopes in the UK, but all Sky Watcher accesories and spare parts.SKY-WATCHER DELUXE MIRROR COATINGS:
Most reflectors today usually have a coat of aluminium as the mirror surface and then an overcoat of silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide to protect it. Silicon dioxide produces a much more durable coat than silicon monoxide but requires specialized equipment to apply it and is therefore more expensive. Protection is needed, because in most reflectors, the mirror is open to the elements and deterioration of the reflective layer reduces the resolution of the telescope. ALL Sky-Watcher reflectors are Multi-Coated with Silicon Dioxide as standard for Optimum Durability and Long Term Performance.
| I have used a great number of telescopes; some are good, some mediocre and some bad. To me the Sky-Watcher range of instruments are very good indeed, and suited to amateurs of all kinds and they are not priced out of the market! Excellent value. Use them and enjoy them.
