The
felling of dead, old and hollow trees has reduced the availability
of natural roost sites for bats. Bat boxes provide artificial
roosts and six species (pipistrelle, noctule, Leisler's,
Natterer's, Daubenton's, and brown long-eared bats) have
bred in them. Bat boxes are also used widely as mating roosts.
The boxes should be large enough to allow a maternity colony
to cluster to conserve heat to keep the babies warm. They
are often used throughout the year. NO WOOD PRESERVATIVES are used because these may be harmful to bats. Our Untreated boxes will last roughly ten years.
